As the Colorado legislature finishes their first full week of the year, bills to better support families impacted by substance use are already beginning their journey through the legislative process. Five bills from the Interim Opioid and Other Substance Use Disorders Study Committee have been introduced to address the gaps in substance use disorder prevention, intervention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery resources.
This set of bills tie directly to the 2020 Illuminating Policy Agenda and our priority of ensuring parents and caregivers have access to substance use disorder (SUD) recovery supports tailored to their needs. We know our future workforce, innovators, leaders and community members can only reach their full potential through thoughtful investment in substance use disorder services and policies that strengthen families and protect children.
The Interim Opioid and Other Substance Use Disorders Study Committee bills are:
- HB20-1017: Substance Use Disorder Treatment In Criminal Justice System
- HB20-1065: Harm Reduction Substance Use Disorders
- HB20-1085: Prevention Of Substance Use Disorders
- SB20-007: Treatment Opioid And Other Substance Use Disorders
- SB20-028: Substance Use Disorder Recovery
