The Communications Team supports work across the organization, from direct service programs like Illuminating Child Care to initiatives like the Colorado Partnership for Thriving Families. The Communications Team is even behind the blog you’re reading right now!

Join us as we get to know and celebrate the four members of the Communications Team:

Ryan Kistler

Director of Communications

Ryan (he/him/his) joined the Illuminate team in March of 2020 and is currently the Director of Communications. In his role, Ryan leads the development and execution of strategic communication plans while promoting the organization’s programs and educational opportunities. Passionate about communications work that leads to social change, Ryan knows that Illuminate’s work– and how it is communicated– is impacting lives and building better childhoods across our state. 

Recently, a major milestone for Ryan was focusing efforts on making major updates to Illuminate Colorado’s website. Check them out!

Nicole Leung

Communications Manager: Web & Design

Nicole Leung (she/her/hers) joined the Illuminate team in October of 2023 as a Communications Manger: Web & Design. In her role, Nicole manages Illuminate Colorado’s websites, focusing on creating visually appealing and user-friendly web experiences that align with Illuminate’s mission and goals. Additionally, she works on various graphic design projects, both digital and print, to support Illuminate’s initiatives and outreach efforts.

Nicole comes to Illuminate with a degree in Integrated Design and Architecture and experience in web and graphic design, outdoor education programming, and wildlife conservation education and training. With a background in the arts, higher education, and outdoor education, Nicole is passionate about providing families with the building blocks they need to have access to similar positive experiences.

Justine Von Arb

Communications Manager

Justine (she/her/hers) joined the Illuminate team in June of 2021 and is currently a Communications Manager. In her role, Justine supports Illuminate Colorado’s work to strengthen families, organizations, and communities by connecting community members and professionals to its vision and mission through strategic communications.

Justine is passionate about meaningful, transformative storytelling. She knows the importance of encouraging others to use their voices to share their own stories and inspire curiosity, growth, and equity.

Sarah Packard

Communications Associate

Sarah (she/her/hers) joined the Illuminate team in August of 2022 as the Communications Associate. In her role, Sarah manages external communications, working with the entire organization and community members from all over the state to manage first impressions for Illuminate Colorado and connect people interested in the prevention of child maltreatment. Sarah is the Communications Team member behind Illuminate’s blogs, social media, and quarterly  newsletters!

Sarah gets to celebrate Illuminate’s staff and their achievements through the blog and social media, keeping Illuminate’s audiences in the loop on all of the great work happening throughout the organization.
