Grants & Events Manager
Christina Ambrose (she/her/hers) joined the Illuminate team in August of 2023 as the Grants & Events Manager. In her role, Christina manages grants, fundraising and community events, and volunteer opportunities. Christina can connect to Illuminate’s mission, which is why working in this position is such a natural fit for her. At Illuminate, her passion, empathy, and heart for service can shine through.
Christina provides the strong vision and direction for fundraising efforts, events, volunteer engagement, and grants that Illuminate needs in order to achieve its goals!

Education Program Manager
Shannon Day (she/her/hers) joined the Illuminate team in August of 2023 as an Education Program Manager. In her role, Shannon works with the Senior Education Program Manager to facilitate trainings focused on strengths-based practices to improve outcomes for families. She loves to engage in conversations about how professionals can better interact with families to not only help families and communities thrive, but also to help professionals find more joy and satisfaction in their work.
With Shannon’s expertise, families will benefit from the development and enhancement of trainings on critical topics such as safe storage and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).
Strategic Initiatives Associate
Mary Houlihan (she/her/hers) joined the Illuminate team in August of 2023 as a Strategic Initiatives Associate. In her role, Mary supports the coordination of the Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems Grant, Colorado Infant Safe Sleep Partnership, and additional Strategic Initiatives team projects. Mary is passionate about ensuring that people feel seen, supported, and nourished. She understands that supporting children’s capacity to grow in a world where they feel safe and valued has many positive impacts in society, and she strives to be part of that impact.
The administrative capacity that Mary brings to the Strategic Initiatives team provides the essential support coalitions and networks need to achieve their full potential in transforming systems and structures.
Evaluation & Strategic Learning Manager
Danielle McQueen (she/her/hers) joined the Illuminate team in August of 2023 as an Evaluation & Strategic Learning Manager. In her role, Danielle works closely with the Education, Policy, and Strategic Initiatives teams, focusing on strategic learning and continuous quality improvement.
Through her role, Danielle keeps Illuminate’s Education, Policy, and Strategic Initiatives teams on a path of continuous learning and growth. Consistent quality improvement ensures that professionals, legislators, and community members have access to high-quality trainings, information, and networks that they need to help strengthen families and communities.
Genevieve Peek, MSc
Genevieve Peek (she/her/hers) joined the Illuminate team in August of 2023 as the Finance Manager. In her role, Genevieve supports the finance and administrative responsibilities of the organization, contributing to accounts payable, receivable, and ongoing financial processes and procedures. At Illuminate, Genevieve finds tremendous purpose in contributing her skillset to a mission so close to her heart.
With her expertise in finance, Genevieve adds critical capacity to Illuminate’s operations, providing a strong foundation on which family strengthening work can take place.
Shira Shump, M. Ed.
FASD Program Manager
Shira Shump (she/her/hers) joined the Illuminate team in August of 2023 as the FASD Program Manager. In her role, Shira guides families, youth, professionals, and community members in accessing best practices and raising awareness of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD).
Shira’s expertise in empowering families, youth, professionals, and community members to build knowledge and best practices surrounding FASD is an instrumental asset in the development of programs and services offered by Illuminate for those impacted by FASD.
Megan White, MSW
Home Visitation Program Manager
Megan White (she/her/hers) joined the Illuminate team in July of 2023 as the Home Visitation Program Manager. In her role, Megan leads and supports the State Intermediary functions related to planning, implementing, and monitoring the Family Connects model and Healthy Families America. Megan is committed to building a world where even our most vulnerable neighbors have a place and voice in their communities.
Megan adds essential capacity to the functioning of Family Connects Colorado, allowing Illuminate to provide high-quality home visitation services to families across Colorado.
